There is a new standard for luxury in northwest Wichita with the completion of the Vue Luxury Apartments, a project that stood out among the hot multi-family housing industry in 2016.
The sprawling apartment complex, built near 29th Street North and Ridge Road, is a 184-unit project that includes a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.
Bob Simpson, president of the project’s general contractor, Simpson Construction Services, says the Vue was set up for success even before the building work began.
“It was a good tract of land to work with,” Simpson says. “I think it sits in there really nice. You’re not trapped in between subdivision walls.”
But there was plenty built in that also helped set the Vue apart from other apartment communities.
That includes, Simpson says, technology incorporated throughout the complex and a focus on a design — courtesy of project architect Butler Rosenbury & Partners of Springfield, Mo. — that encourages the communal quality that has drawn residents to the Vue.
“The common areas are really generous,” Simpson says.
The complex includes a 5,800-square-foot clubhouse, with amenities that include a 24-hour fitness center, a cooking area for hosting gourmet events and wine tastings, and a conference center and business center that can be reserved by residents.
On the technology front, the Vue is the first site in Wichita to offer Cox Communications GigaBlast Internet to meet connectivity needs.
The residences themselves include high-quality cabinetry, granite countertops, nine-foot ceilings, large windows and personal patios.
The pet-friendly community also includes a walking path along the lake and a pet washing station, as well as a heated swimming pool, fire pit and outdoor grilling area.
It all adds up to the kind of living that has found a solid pocket of demand in the northwest part of town.
Peter Catanese, vice president of the apartments’ managing firm, Key Management Co., says nearly 80 percent of the initial units have already been leased.
There is also a focus on customer service at the Vue, Catanese says, a crucial element to providing the experience that helps separate it from other complexes.
“What you have to do when catering to a client looking for a luxury experience is provide excellent service,” he says.
Now, with the weather warming and residents able to enjoy many of the outdoor amenities for the first time, he expects that experience at the Vue to drive even more buzz in the industry.
The Vue provides a place for residents to come home to, Catanese says, and relax and enjoy the important moments of their lives — all in the type of luxury not always found in apartment life.
“I think there is demand for new, luxury experiences like the Vue,” he says.
